Reverend Dr. Marcus D. Allen, Sr.
Reverend Dr. Marcus D. Allen, Sr. is the Senior Pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Madison, Wisconsin.
Pastor Allen was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi, and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Pastor Allen was licensed to preach July, 1997, and ordained July, 2005 at Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, under Pastor George H. Jolly. As an Associate Minister at Mt. Pilgrim, Pastor Allen was groomed and developed to be the Preacher he is today.
Pastor Allen served honorably in the United States Army for over 10 years as a Petroleum Supply Specialist. While stationed in Germany, he deployed to Iraq in 2003. In March 2004, Reverend Allen reported to Fort Campbell, Kentucky. As a member of the 101st Screaming Eagles, he completed two more combat tours: one to Iraq and one to Afghanistan. As a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army, he has led many Soldiers into combat and, under his leadership, they have all returned home safely. Pastor Allen’s final duty station was at Fort Lee, Virginia as an Instructor at the Petroleum and Water Department. Pastor Allen has been awarded the Army Achievement Medal, Army Accommodation Medal, Bronze Star Medal, as well as numerous other awards.
Pastor Allen has also preached and taught at churches in Afghanistan and Iraq, assisting Soldiers with motivation and spiritual guidance to help endure the hardships of being in a war zone. Under the preaching power of the Holy Spirit, due to his obedience to God, many lives were changed, and souls were saved.
While serving as an Associate Minister at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Petersburg, Virginia, under Pastor Robert A. Diggs, Pastor Allen created and established a Young Adult Ministry, focusing on helping young adults through their transitions in life. Pastor Allen served as the Senior Pastor of Union Branch Baptist Church in Prince George, Virginia from September, 2012 until October, 2016.
Pastor Allen is a graduate of the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University, Richmond, Virginia, earning a Masters of Divinity degree. Pastor Allen has also earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary.
Pastor Allen is married to the former Terra Cook of Cordova, Alabama. God has blessed them with three beautiful children, Alexandrea, Mekiyah and Marcus, Jr.
Pastor Marcus Allen has a tremendous desire for God’s Word, coupled with a love for God’s people. He has a contagious spirit of generosity that flows through every facet of his Ministry. He is passionate about proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ, making the Word of God relevant in the lives of believers, and building the Kingdom of God in the congregation and community.
